Questions From Both Sides of the Work

Corvinus Business Solutions serves small and medium businesses, and it supports federal programs, small offices and mission-driven initiatives. The questions below run in three groups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Corvinus Business Solutions serves two kinds of client. For small and medium businesses it offers accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax, advisory, startup accounting, business formation and real estate accounting services. For federal programs, small offices and mission-driven initiatives, it provides business and financial management; integrated administrative and creative support; website design, development and digital marketing; and public outreach campaigns. The common thread is financial and administrative discipline combined with clear communication, from one certified WOSB and EDWOSB vendor.

Corvinus Business Solutions is a 100% woman-owned, single-member LLC, led by its owner. The owner's background includes Certified Public Accountant, Financial Controller and Director of Financial Reporting experience, along with QuickBooks ProAdvisor experience. It also covers business operations, real estate asset management and vendor coordination, audit readiness and internal controls documentation, marketing strategy and brand development, and website and graphic design. The About page sets out that background in full.

Corvinus is a single-member LLC, which gives every engagement a single point of accountability and keeps communication clear. For design, branding and digital communications, a subcontractor partnership expands capacity without increasing overhead. The owner scopes each engagement and remains responsible for it, including any part delivered with partner capacity. You deal with one accountable contact from the first conversation to the finished work, however the work itself is resourced.

The consultation form asks about your program, office or business, what you need help with and how things are handled today. We use that to prepare for the first conversation. Next we review the relevant records, procedures or materials, so the work builds on what is already in place instead of replacing it by default. From there we agree a defined scope of work and what will be delivered, and the work begins.

Not unless that is what you want. An organization often has someone handling part of the work already, whether that is day-to-day finance, an outside tax preparer or an in-house communications lead. We learn what they do and scope our work around it, so responsibilities are clear and nothing is done twice. Written procedures and staff training can be part of the engagement, which leaves your team with processes it can keep using on its own.

Use the contact form for general questions, or the consultation form to describe a specific need. Federal contracting staff who want the firm's competencies and certifications in one document can request the capability statement through the contact form first. Whichever route you choose, include a short description of the program, office or business and the support it needs, so the first reply can address it directly.

Corvinus Business Solutions is set up to support federal offices with both operational structure and communication clarity. It brings financial operations, internal controls and audit readiness together with compliance-ready communications, accessible websites and public outreach. SOPs, audit-ready materials, policy documents and branded communication packages are prepared to meet federal standards. The firm has proven experience managing vendors, documentation and operational workflows in regulated environments, and it holds WOSB and EDWOSB certification.

The federal Women-Owned Small Business program lets a contracting office limit competition for certain requirements to certified women-owned small businesses, or to certified economically disadvantaged women-owned small businesses, and in some circumstances to make a sole-source award to a certified firm. Corvinus holds both certifications and is eligible for set-asides and sole-source awards. The program's rules, including which industries qualify, are applied by the contracting office to each requirement, so eligibility for a particular procurement is always its determination.

They are listed in the capability statement, alongside the firm's core competencies, differentiators, certifications and company information. To get a copy, request the capability statement through the contact form. For work that spans more than one code, such as a program that needs financial documentation and an outreach campaign, the contracting office selects the code that best describes the principal purpose of the requirement.

Yes. Section 508 and WCAG-conforming work is part of website design, development and digital marketing, one of the four core competencies. Websites are accessible and built to meet WCAG standards, designed to be mobile-responsive, and able to integrate with CRM and third-party platforms. The same approach applies to landing pages and campaign websites for outreach work, and to website maintenance and ongoing support. The accessibility requirements for a project are confirmed during scoping, from the requirement or the agency's own policy.

The public outreach competency covers program and initiative branding, program naming and identity development, logo and visual identity design, and campaign branding and creative direction. It extends to website design and development, educational and public information materials, digital and print communications materials, social and digital campaign creative, and community outreach materials. Digital marketing, from search and paid media to analytics and performance reporting, can carry a campaign online. The scope is agreed with the program office at the start.

Yes. QuickBooks setup, cleanup and optimization is offered to federal contractors, grant recipients and small agencies. It covers a chart of accounts aligned with GAAP and federal cost principles, correction of miscoded transactions and removal of duplicate or erroneous entries, and configuration for project-based accounting, indirect cost pools and rate calculations. Recurring tasks can be automated and reporting improved, and staff are trained with written procedures and QuickBooks best-practice guidance.

An accounting system is how a business tracks revenue, expenses and the other measures that show whether it is healthy and growing. Set up well and early, it can grow and evolve with the business and support informed decisions at every stage. We help businesses set up accounting software, create a chart of accounts and develop customized reports, so the numbers show both progress and areas for improvement. See accounting services for more.

Yes. Real estate accounting draws on experience in real estate asset management and vendor coordination. The work can include books and financial statements setup and cleanup, budgeting and forecasting, cost segregation and job costing, construction draw management, month-end closing and reporting, property management accounting, CAM and RET true-ups, investor reporting and external audit support. See real estate accounting for the full list of services.

Payroll services cover employee data management, such as time and attendance, tax withholding information and benefit deductions; payroll processing, which calculates wages, taxes and other deductions and produces paychecks or direct deposits; payroll tax filing and compliance; and reports that help an owner understand labor costs. Outsourcing payroll reduces the risk of errors and leaves the owner free to focus on running the business. See payroll services.

Tax services for small and medium businesses cover preparation, planning and advisory work. Preparation includes federal, state and local returns, business entity returns for S corporations, partnerships and LLCs, and payroll and sales tax returns. Planning reviews financial statements and returns for tax-saving opportunities such as credits and deductions. Advisory work covers the tax implications of business transactions and compliance and reporting requirements. Advice for your own situation comes within an engagement. See tax services.

Business formation services cover incorporation, registration with the relevant government agencies, obtaining tax identification numbers and other legal filings, with ongoing support for compliance such as annual report filings. Once the business is running, startup accounting tracks revenue, expenses and cash flow, supports budgeting and forecasting, plans for taxes, and prepares the financial statements investors want to see. See business formation and startup accounting.

Advisory services give a small or medium business an outside, expert perspective. That means a clear analysis of where the business stands, a fresh view of blind spots and overlooked opportunities, help streamlining operations, and a long-term strategy with goals, a target market and a plan to reach them. It can also mean managing cash flow, optimizing pricing, building financial models, and preparing for funding opportunities and fundraising. See advisory services.

Every business is different, so the work starts with understanding yours: how it runs, where it is headed and what it needs from its numbers. Services are then tailored to those needs, whether you are just starting out or looking to take the business to the next level. The aim is to help you reach your objectives in a way that is sustainable and effective, with high-quality service and personalized attention throughout the engagement.
